This year the NELA/MLA joint conference networking opportunities begin on Saturday, October 19th. Tours at Portland Public Library will be running at 2 and 3 pm hosted by Library Director, Steve Podgajny. Then a sunset cocktail cruise on Casco Bay will sail at 5pm. The shuttle from the hotel for the cruise leaves at 4:15. Restaurant suggestions for dinner after the cruise will be provided. Portland is well known for its restaurant selections.
Just before the Sunday banquet join your colleagues at the Exhibits Opening Reception at 5pm. Dinner will follow with author John Ford speaking and signing his novel afterward.
On Monday, after you have spent the day filling your mind with new ideas at programs, relax and have fun at the NELA Games! The games will be held at the Portland Public Library in the Rines auditorium. You can also view the Maurice Sendak art exhibit that is on display at the library. Then enjoy NELA’s night out at one of the restaurants on the dine-around list or join the festive group of librarians going on a pub crawl of Portland’s craft beer scene.
The conference ends with the Tuesday Luncheon where author John Searles will discuss his newest book and stay for a book signing.
