We would like to extend a special thank you to our vendor, University of North Texas Library & Information Sciences. Their donation to NELA’s Educational Assistance Fund helped us bring six new first time attendees to conference this year and earned their logo a spot on our conference tote bag. Due to a printing error, their logo does not appear on the bag, and we would like to acknowledge their generous gift.
The University of North Texas’ Department of Library & Information Sciences, in collaboration with the Manchester City Library, is currently admitting a cohort of students from Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine to pursue its ALA-accredited Master’s program, starting in Spring 2016. Students will attend a four-day Institute at MCL on January 8-11, 2016 and a two-day Institute in June 2016, and complete the rest of the program online! UNT-LIS is also pleased to offer twenty $2,000 Tuition Assistance Scholarships to newly admitted students in the cohort.
The Institutes at the Manchester City Library will include an orientation, technology training, and introduction to the core courses, as well as time to network with fellow students, faculty, and library leaders. This blended cohort-based approach to the MLIS is unique, and has proven effective in providing students with a high-quality accessible experience.
