The Falmouth Public Library seeks applicants for an Assistant Library Director who will work closely with the director and a dedicated, well-trained and service-oriented staff of thirty-six. The Library supports a population of 31,532, which expands to 108,000 in the summer. The Main Library is located in the heart of the vibrant downtown area with two branches located in North and East Falmouth. The Falmouth Public Library is a highly valued community resource and is part of the Cape and Islands Library Network.
The successful candidate will have proven experience and knowledge of library operations, including collection development, library technology, administration, personnel, and reporting. The assistant director manages statistical data, participates in web site management, and serves as the liaison to the Friends of the Falmouth Public Library. Working with the library department heads, the assistant director oversees the daily operations of the library and in the absence of the director, assumes full responsibility for library operations.
A Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited graduate library school is required. Progressively responsible library experience preferred, including three to five years of administrative and supervisory experience or a combination of experience and education demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
