The Town of Acton is seeking qualified applicants for the part-time position of Staff Librarian 2 (Children’s), reporting to the Head of Children’s Services.
Duties: Duties include planning and conducting an evening story time once a week, assisting library users in finding materials and information, explaining library policies and procedures to the public, and performing basic computer troubleshooting as the need arises.
Schedule: Tuesday or Wednesday 5-9 p.m., one Sunday a month 1:30-5 p.m. early September through mid-June, and one Monday night in three 5-9 p.m.; occasional opportunities for extra hours.
Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science or Master’s degree in Educational Media; 2 years’ experience working with children in a fully automated library; knowledge of children’s library resources and programming; demonstrated communications, organizational, and public service skills; experience working with different cultures; attention to detail; experience in basic computer troubleshooting.

Preferred qualifications: additional relevant library experience, especially with pre-schoolers; experience in programming for children; fluency in Chinese, Russian, or Portuguese (Brazilian dialect).
Pay Range: I8 $25.7734-$33.6284/hr. in ten steps; no benefits. Sunday hours are at time and a half.
