Library Director, Anna Maria College, Paxton, MA
Mondor/Eagen Library – is housed within the Foundress Academic building on a 190 acre campus . The library is open 74 hours a week during the Fall and Spring semesters, including 6 hours on Sunday. Anna Maria College has a student population under 1,500 students and offers undergraduate and online graduate programs.
Position Summary: This 12-month, full time staff position oversees the Mondor Eagen Library and is responsible for planning, directing and administrating all library operations including Access Services, and Research and Instruction. The Director supervises a staff of three, including subs and reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Mondor Eagen Library is a member of the CWMARS, a consortium of 72 public and academic libraries in Central/Western Massachusetts (http://www.cwmars.org).
Direct all aspects of library operations including program and policy development, collections, finance, personnel, long-range planning and facilities.
Involvement in CWMARS users council is encouraged. The library uses Evergreen as its ILS.
The Director serves as and is responsible for collection development subject areas, and oversees the reference coverage, and instruction. He/She expands important partnerships with consortia and other groups for resource sharing, group purchasing and other initiatives.
Provide direction for integration of relevant technologies into the services and operations of the library.
Foster a culture of collaboration and service within the library, and develop engaging and innovative partnerships with other student support systems, activities, and departments across campus.
Serve as a member of the Library/IT Technology and Faculty Committee. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all of the various constituencies within the College community as well as other libraries and consortia.
We are also a member of ARC (Academic and Research Collaborative http://www.worcesterarc.org) and the Director represents the college library at their triannual meetings.
Master of Library Science degree from an American Library Association accredited institution.
Three or more years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in an academic library.
Experience in planning and management of a library operating budget.
Excellent managerial, interpersonal, written and communications skills.
Working knowledge of ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. http://www.ala.org/acrl/standards/ilframework
Candidates must be able to work collaboratively with library staff, the Anna Maria community and be committed to providing strong leadership and vision. Preference will be given to candidates with experience at smaller universities/colleges who understand the necessity for balancing day-to-day management with high level visibility.
