Job Summary: The Bailey/Howe Library’s Collection Management Services Department is searching for a Library Professional staff member to join their team. This position will contribute accurate and complete records to UVM Libraries’ catalog to support user discovery of library resources, verifying descriptive information, classification numbers, and name and subject headings. Improve catalog integrity and utility by initiating and contributing to catalog maintenance projects. Interpret cataloging policies, procedures, and standards in order to perform above duties in compliance with national and local best practices. Collaborate with department to determine policies, implement projects, and recommend improvements.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and two to four years of library experience. Knowledge of cataloging standards, subject vocabularies, and classification schemes, such as MARC, RDA, LCSH, LCC, and/or MeSH. Experience with a bibliographic utility such as OCLC and with one or more integrated library systems. Software and computer skills as needed to utilize Microsoft Office, email, web browsers, and online resources, as well as library- and cataloging-specific applications. Accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to understand complex bibliographic relationships, analyze problems, and formulate solutions. Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
