Welcome to the New England Library Association!
In these times of financial strife, it’s all we can do to stay afloat and maintain service to our library users. Each state faces its own set of issues and differs from its New England neighbors. At the same time, our technology is constantly growing and changing in our workplace and in our lives. Since 1939, NELA has been a forum for librarians throughout New England to come together and share ideas and concerns. This is exactly what we need in these challenging times, to have the opportunity to come together, whether it is the annual conference or standalone programs, to address our common concerns and interests. There is strength in numbers and I invite you to join us if you are not already a member.
NELA offers YOU:
- Networking opportunities with a cross section of librarians around New England.
- An annual conference with vibrant workshops and vendor exhibitions.
- Standalone programs that teach, inspire, enhance skills and provide a forum for peers.
- NELLS, the New England Library Leadership Symposium, for building leaders.
- Financial assistance for graduate MLS programs and continuing education courses.
- Mentoring opportunities.
- Counterparts Days for information exchange between state association leaders.
- Sections and committees to enrich your careers and interests.
- An online community devoted to library issues and information.
Now that you're here on our website, take the time to look around. On the home page, you'll find important dates, recent announcements, and links to NELA’s special-interest Sections. The menus at the top give you direct access to the rest of the site. Explore, see what interests you, and get involved with your regional association! And, if you're not a NELA member yet, join us!
Learn, share and grow. Connect with NELA!
