Youth Services Librarian ( Head of the Children’s Department )
Qualifications: Candidates must possess an MLS or MLIS degree
This position requires a Master’s degree from an ALA accredited program in Library Science with a concentration in library service to children.
We are looking for a bright and resourceful professional librarian for our very busy children’s room. Share your love of reading by selecting library materials for the children’s collection; run lively, animated storytimes for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Plan the summer reading program, maintain connections with schools and child-care centers, and promote the library in the community. Must have working knowledge of automated library systems, and information technologies and services. The children’s staff of three includes: the full-time Head of Children’s Services and two part-time professional librarians who cover nights. This full time position includes working every other Saturday. The annual salary range is $48,000 to $55,000. Benefits include vacation, sick time, individual health and retirement. The East Greenwich Free Library is the public library serving East Greenwich; however, library staff are not town employees.
East Greenwich is a small historic town on Narragansett Bay, with a population of just over 13,000.
