About

Officially chartered in 1963, the New England Library Association is a regional organization whose membership represents a wide range of library‑related interests.

Its objectives are to initiate, plan and support regional activities; to encourage the exchange of ideas; and to cooperate with regional and national agencies having related interests.

Mission Statement

New England Library Association leads, educates, convenes, and advocates for the advancement of New England libraries and library workers.

Strategic Vision

New England Library Association is the premier source for the creation and enrichment of diverse, dynamic New England library professional networks through conferences, scholarships, leadership development, advocacy, and collaboration with affiliated associations.

Strategic Priorities

Membership - Increase and diversity NELA's membership through events and programs relevant to membership and be a top choice as a fun and affordable association within New England.
Programs - Offer programming which meets and reflects the community, focusing on diversity and bringing the whole community together across all ages.
Communications - Establish an effective communications program to keep members informed and provide an outlet for association events and advocacy.
Financial - Develop new resources that fund planned programs and services together with management and staffing investment required to execute the plan while assuring the long term sustainability of NELA.
Governance - Evaluate current governance/operational procedures.
